Program Overview
The 5th Alpen-Adria-Workshop on Optimization gathers a group of people, actively working in the broad intersection of nonlinear
(semidefinite) optimization and combinatorial optimization, and exchange current research results. Early stage researchers are
particularly welcome.

Registration
There are no registration fees, but participants are expected to cover their expenses themselves.
In case you plan to attend, please send the following information to Anita Wachter:
- your expected arrival and departure dates,
- whether you plan to give a talk (if so, also provide a tentative title).

Venue
The workshop will be held in rooms K.0.0.1, I.2.01 and HS 3 at the
Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, Austria,
which is located at the beautiful lake Wörthersee. Here is map of the University area.

In walking distance to the University we recommend Pension Wachau or
Seepark Hotel.
The University is not in the city center, however, there are reasonable bus connections
(day /
night) from the city center to the University,
online bus schedule.
Furthermore, it is very convenient to go around by bike, for bike rentals check

or nextbike to rent a bike. Also, some of the hotels offer
bikes to rent.
Travelling to Klagenfurt

Klagenfurt airport has direct flights from/to Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin (germanwings, not daily!) and Vienna
(Austrian Airlines).
You may also consider arriving at one of the neighboring airports, preferable
Ljubljana or
Graz but also
Triest,
Venice Marco Polo,
Treviso.
From Klagenfurt Airport to the University/Seepark Hotel/Pension Wachau:
Klagenfurt airport is not very well connected by public transport. There is only one bus (number 42) leaving once an hour
(always at xx:56, starting from 5:56 a.m. until 6:56 p.m.). Get off at Heiligengeistplatz and change to bus number 81
(direction University/Krottendorf), then you get off at Ginzkeygasse (for Pension Wachau) or at Universitätsstrasse
(for the University or the Seepark Hotel). The bus ticket costs 2,10 Euros and can be bought on the bus.
A taxi from the airport costs around 20 Euros.

Workshop dinner location: Schleppe Felsenkeller
The Felsenkeller is located at Feldkirchnerstraße 141, 9020 Klagenfurt. You can take the
bus line 30/33 from Heiligengeistplatz to Schleppe.
As soon as you get off the bus you can see Felsenkeller on the other side of the road.
You will probably need to go from Universität to Heiligengeistplatz beforehand by taking line 81.
